After a tough competition throughout the whole tournament in defeating his opponents, the world number two-ranked tennis player finally made it to the final round of the event. In the last step to defend his Indian Wells crown, he faced Daniil Medvedev and achieved victory against him.

After the final shot, to celebrate the victory, when the two-time Grand Slam champion climbed up to his box, it was his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, who was seen emotionally hugging the 20-year-old. Looking into the video, not only was it an emotional moment for his coach, but after a long time, he was seen in the player’s box, as the 44-year-old Spanish tennis player was struggling with his own injuries.

His absence from the Australian Open was particularly noticeable, as he was recovering from arthroscopic surgery on his left knee. But after a few months now, Ferrero has put his support for his mentee above his regrets over missing one of the biggest events in the sport. He traveled to Indian Wells despite his physical difficulties because he was committed to supporting the 20-year-old while he defended his title.

On the other hand, by making this gesture, the Spanish coach demonstrated not just his undying dedication to his player’s achievement but also the strong link that exists between coach and athlete even in the face of adversity and physical limits. Not only that, just a few days ago, the world number two talked about having a good back at the Indian Wells by his side.

It’s a long path with him, so it’s special traveling with him. But doesn’t matter that I’m going to play better with him or not.” In addition, while Alcaraz clearly highlighted how the 44-year-old Spanish coach’s presence does not make a huge difference to him play-wise, at the same time, it’s just special for him as they have been together for such a long time.
