He defeated the likes of Alex de Minaur, Andrey Rublev, Rafael Nadal, and others on the way to his first title of the season. Additionally, his Indian Wells title has massively boosted his ATP rankings. He has entered the top-10 and is now placed on the eighth spot on the ATP rankings chart. During the post-match press conference after his finals defeat against Fritz, Nadal opened up on his opponent’s performance. The Spaniard said, “They’re doing well, of course, victories like today helps and he (Fritz) played well. He went through some great matches during this week, I think, especially yesterday, a lot of credit to him on the victory of yesterday that in my opinion, his victory of yesterday is much bigger than his victory of today because he had a much tougher opponent in front yesterday.”
Further, he added, “He already played great matches in Australia this year if I’m not wrong, against Tsitsipas. So, it’s obvious that he’s improving, and with this victory is a great start of the season for him and he will have a chance to be very close if not in the top 10 very soon.”

Taylor Fritz should be brimming with confidence after claiming his maiden Masters 1000 title. The American has exceeded expectations in big tournaments this year. Earlier this season, he reached the fourth round of the Australian Open. However, he went down fighting against Stefanos Tsitsipas in a five-setter thriller.
