“Impossible to Name a GOAT” – Denis Shapovalov Believes Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal Are All Unique in Their Own Way

World No.1 Novak Djokovic recently won his 20th Grand Slam title at the Wimbledon Championships 2021. Thus, he has equalized both his arch-rivals, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal, in the Grand Slam tally and has taken the G.O.A.T debate to a whole new level.

In a recent interview, Canadian star, Denis Shapovalov, expressed his opinion on the debate. And though he is a big Roger Federer fan, he believes that it is quite impossible to pick the greatest player of all time from Novak Djokovic, Federer, and Rafael Nadal.

“It’s impossible to name a GOAT. It’s really personal to every person. One person might just look at the stats, another person might judge how much of a champion that player was, how he carried himself as a person or on the courts,” said Shapovalov in the interview.

Shapovalov believes that there are different parameters on which different experts and players will judge the ‘Big Three’; while some will choose the G.O.A.T on the basis of stats, others will look at how they carried themselves on the court during tough situations.

Shapovalov further added that it is super fun to be witnessing the ‘Big Three’ simultaneously. He feels that they are all unique in their own way and something like this not going to happen anytime in the sport in the future.

“The three of them, they’re all very unique in their own way. It’s just a super fun generation to be a part of, and definitely, anything like this is never ever gonna happen again, in history. I think. It’s just super fun to witness what all three of them are doing,” concluded the World No.10 player.

Interestingly, the ‘Big Three’ have won more than 90% of the Grand Slams in the last decade. They still continue to dominate the sport and it’ll be intriguing to see which one of them will end his career with the most number of majors.
