There have been many off-court issues that Novak Djokovic has had to deal with this year. The incident at the Australian Open served as a catalyst for everything that followed. Since then, 35-year-old has been serving a 3-year travel ban for refusing vaccinations.

The same thing happened when he tried to defend his Australian Open title earlier this year. Therefore, it is unlikely that he will be allowed to participate in the Australian Open 2023 because of the travel restriction he received during the verdict. However, in one of the earlier interviews, the 21-time Grand Slam winner disclosed an important update on his participation in the next year’s Australian Open.

As a result of his vaccination history, Djokovic missed out on a lot of opportunities this year. Not to forget, he was also banned from participating in the US Open. 

Following his opening-round victory in Nur-Sultan, Djokovic addressed the media and said, “I’m still waiting for the news for my ban to be removed (I have travel ban for 3 years I think) due to the circumstances earlier this year. Once that’s removed I have to apply for a visa. I wish to go and I wish to play there

After a slow start to the season for various reasons, Novak Djokovic is back on track and winning major tournaments. He has whistled past Christian Garin in his first-round match with a score of 6-1, 6-1 at Astana Open. Next up, he would be facing Botic Van de Zandschulp in the Round of 16.
