Taylor Fritz might have lost his dream of clinching his home grand slam title, but that has not dampened his spirits. Adding on to that, his girlfriend made his day by making the innocent mistake of pronouncing the name of a legendary American player, Andre Agassi.

Fritz took to his Instagram story and enjoyed a hearty laugh with his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, and his fans. This lightened up the spirits of the American player after his demoralizing defeat in the first round at the US Open.

Andre Agassi, one of the greatest tennis players in the history of the sport, became an household name in the US in the 90s and early 2000s. So, when tennis sensation Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend mispronounced the name of the American tennis legend, he could not help himself but record the moment.

He took to his Instagram to share their conversation in one of his stories. He said, “What did you say? Please say again.” At first, his girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, seemed reluctant to comply. But Fritz gave her a nudge and said, “Say it how you said it. It was great.” To this, she yielded and said, “I’m gonna read Agassi’s memoir.

However, her pronunciation of his name sounded like ‘Agossi’ which the player too highlighted in another story. Fritz burst into a fit of laughter hearing her pronounce Agassi. He captioned the video, “I’m DEAD”.

Fritz’ promising season grinds to a disappointing halt at the US Open

The American rising star has performed extremely well on the tour this season. He defeated Rafael Nadal at Indian Wells to clinch his first title of the season and only his second overall. Fritz had a good run in the grass-court season as well. He won at the Eastbourne International and almost went past Nadal in the quarterfinal of the Wimbledon Championship.
