However, they might have to wait as the ‘Djoker’ is yet again set to miss the highly anticipated tournament. The 22 singles Grand Slam champion is still waiting for the green light to enter the country owing to his COVID-19 vaccination status. Talking about the same, the Serbian tennis legend said that he might have to withdraw from the event before the draw comes out.

During the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships, the current world no.1 was featured in a press conference in which he was asked about his plans for the upcoming tournament. The ‘Djoker’ revealed that he is only focusing on the current event in Dubai.
However, Djokovic did express his thoughts about his situation. He said that he will have to wait as no green light has been shown to him by the United States authorities. Later, he was asked if he has made any decision regarding his participation before the draw of the ATP Tour Masters 1000 event.
The Serbian tennis star answered by saying that he had already made up his mind way before the fixtures of the tournament. He said, “Yeah, yeah, whatever the decision is before the draw, if I’m not allowed, I’m going to pull out, of course, before the draw.”

Another ATP legend will not be there for the Indian Wells
Along with the ‘Nole’, his archrival, Rafael Nadal, has also managed to remain a dominant presence in the BNP Paribas Open. However, this season’s Indian Wells will take place without the 14-time French Open champion.
The 36-year-old tennis legend has been forced to pull out of the highly anticipated tournament because of his iliopsoas injury. This will also have a major impact on his ATP rankings as he has already missed a number of tournaments during this season. His legion of fans are already astonished as the Spaniard is set to drop out of the top 10 after almost a decade.
