2020 US Open champion Dominic Thiem has his eyes set on F1 racing cars. In his recent Instagram story, where he often answers fans’ queries, he has a special offer for reigning F1 champion Max Verstappen. An offer is cross-functional and quite an intriguing one.

The 28-years old tennis star replied positively to play a game of tennis with Max Verstappen but has one condition for it. He said, “Yes of course, if he allows me to drive some laps on his amazing F1 race car.” Red Bull Driver Verstappen drives car no. 33 (now changed to car no. 1) when he won his 1st Championship last season.

The Austrian Tennis star is recovering from his wrist injury and resumed practice. But 2020 finalist opted out from the inaugural grand slam of the 2022 season and sat out for complete February. He was in touch with his fans through social media and answered some of the fan’s questions – even some personal ones.
In previous posts, he replied to his favorite animals, color, and even Adidas outfits he wore. This time around, he was the quiz master for the fans, asking them trivia questions related to himself.

He showed me a tennis court and asked, “Hello everybody, today I have got a question for you. In my entire career, I only played 2 matches at this stadium, where I am at the moment. Do you know against who those matches were?”

One fan quickly identified the tournament from the ground as “Miami Open” and was spot on again guessing the opponents. It was in 2015 – against Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray in 2016. Thiem lost both those matches against the experienced opponents.

But it was not an easy question as another fan’s guess – Pablo Cuevas (2018) and Roger Federer (2019) was a close one but not correct. The court shown in the photo was the Center court of Miami open, and guess was for the Indiana Well Tournament.

Fans wait for Thiem’s return

Dominic Thiem has had a sensational career before the injuries. He broke into the top 3 rankings quite quickly and also won his 1st grand slam in just 9 years span. The northward growth of the youngster was halted by a series of injuries in 2021.
