The will to keep advancing to their heart’s extent is something that will for sure seep into the minds of the younger generations. Further, along with fans, they have stunned some professionals as well. Veterans such as 22-time Grand Slam champion Steffi Graf find their journey extraordinary and very tough to imitate.

Graf makes a comparison

While speaking to the press in 2017, Graf addressed the careers of Nadal and Federer in regard to her husband, Andre Agassi’s achievements. When asked if he ever thought about staying on the court as long as them, Agassi said, “No.”

“You can’t believe you once were at that level–and, even if I could do it, I think of my life now and ask: ‘Why do they do it?” The former world number one said.

Thereafter, Graf added, “Can you believe what these guys are still willing to put themselves through?’ It’s remarkable, but if I went back in time, I would probably retire sooner.” The German is undoubtedly one of the most iconic players of all time. She executed an illustrious career comprising of 107 singles career titles and a record 377 weeks of holding on to the crown of being ranked as world number one.

Speaking of her husband, Agassi claimed a total of eight Grand Slam titles and ruled the courts alongside compatriot and rival Pete Sampras.

What are Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal up to these days?

Starting with Roger Federer, the 20-time Grand Slam champion hasn’t graced the courts since his quarter-final dismissal at Wimbledon last year. However, he has enrolled for the upcoming Laver Cup and home-based ATP 500 event. The Swiss Indoors Basel will also make a comeback this season after two years of being called off because of the pandemic.

Coming to Rafael Nadal, after giving a solid start to the year by winning his 21st Grand Slam title in Australia, he fell prey to several injuries. The Spaniard at first suffered a rib injury in Indian Wells. Then, with his 14th title in France, his foot injury resurfaced, and in the end, his Wimbledon chase gave him a gruesome abdominal injury. Nadal bowed out of the US Open in the Round of 16 and will now look forward to the Laver Cup.
