The Swiss maestro said that the upcoming Laver Cup will be the final tournament of his tennis career. Recently, he opened up about his emotions while announcing his retirement decision.

Roger Federer talks about what went through his mind while announcing his retirement

The 20-time Grand Slam champion arrived in London earlier this week where he will play the last match of his career at this year’s edition of the Laver Cup. During an interview, he talked about whether he had to deal with different stages of grief during his retirement announcement.

Federer said, “Yes, all of it and also the ones where I don’t want to deal with it, I just don’t want to think about it, don’t talk to me about it. I went through a lot of sadness and emotional moments where just, you know, you start thinking about everything you gonna miss.”

Further, he added, “And then you just think, Oh my god, my life will be miserable after, and then you realize, no, no, no, actually we gonna have more time (with his family). So we gonna do all these amazing things now, it’s going to be great.”?

Federer hopes to play with Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup

During an interview at the tournament, the Swiss maestro ruled out the possibility of playing singles at the Laver Cup. However, he was optimistic about playing in one of the doubles matches.?Federer hopes that he will play doubles alongside Rafael Nadal.
