Daniil Medvedev has been having a dream tournament this time at the Wimbledon Championships. The 2021 US Open champion has been playing some spectacular tennis and has lost just one set till now. He has reached the quarter-finals now and is looking very threatening and is one of the favorites to win the tournament. He has never reached the quarter-finals of Wimbledon hitherto and this being his first time, he has nothing to lose. However, according to him, his 100% win rate depends entirely on the organizers!
Right now, he seems like a man on a mission and is surely determined to prove his doubters wrong. Medvedev is known for his cheeky sense of humor. That was certainly evident in his post-match on-court interview.

Medvedev has a lot of fun elements to add to the sport. He is a jovial character with a sporty nature. He revealed it once again by saying he doesn’t want to play in Centre Court as he doesn’t have any memories of success there. All the success he has had in Wimbledon has come on Court 1. But the fact is he has never advanced into the quarter-finals all these years is solely due to him playing in Centre Court.
The official Twitter handle of the Tennis Letter posted a tweet with an excerpt from Medvedev’s interview: “The thing is, it’s probably my 5th or 6th Wimbledon. I wasn’t very successful. But I never lost on this court. I feel sorry that the QF I’ll probably play on Centre Court. I’m like, can’t I just continue here? I love it” .

Medvedev is one of the finest entertainers on the ATP tour and is one of the funniest guys behind a microphone. But things are getting serious for Medvedev now as we near the business end of the tournament.
Could Medvedev actually win the Championships?
Medvedev has all the skills in the world to become a Grand Slam champion. And he has already proved it by winning the US Open 2021. But he doesn’t feel very comfortable on clay and on grass as compared to hard courts where he thrives effortlessly. The inconsistent ball bounce and his net play are some of the concerns. But he has adapted to grass very well over the years.

But he needs to rectify all his technical inconsistencies for that. Reaching the quarters here for the first time per se would give him more confidence and the much-needed boost to go even deeper into the Championships and perhaps win the title. Though Carlos Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic are the favorites, a raw talent like Medvedev can’t be underestimated, even though grass is one of his least favored surfaces. Anyway, before dwelling too much on the future, he would be concentrating on the match against Christopher Eubanks, who shocked the tennis world by upsetting Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Centre Court or Court No.1, the quarter-finals between Medvedev and Eubanks is going to be a match of high quality as both men are trying to reach their first-ever Wimbledon semifinal.
