Recently, in a podcast conversation, Agassi’s ex-coach talked about how, even though he has only worked with him for a few weeks, that too a long time ago, he was taken aback with the players’ dedication toward his craft.. While many might think, Federer was just saving his energy before the main event, there’s a far more tactical reason as to why the player used to behave laid-back.
He added, “But he is just slapping the ball around barely moving his feet, you know. And he said, ‘Darren, all the hard work is done in the lead up, just have to feel the ball and feel good about the game. So everything is done away from the public eyes‘.”
However, it’s just not Darren Cahill who got a glimpse of Federer’s superiority as even Ivan Ljubicic, another coach who worked for him opened up about the hidden side of the charismatic Federer that is admired by the world.

He stated, “It is just that you have the feeling that he soaks up everything you say, and he is always open to trying new things. If I told him to try a two-handed backhand, he would try it. Roger is aware that his strong character and charisma can cause people to be in awe of him, so he is trying to make it easy on the coaches.” Ljubicic is the last coach to have worked closely with the former world number one, having been his coach from 2016 until the tennis legend retired from the game.
