Kyrgios couldn’t move past the quarter-finals, as Karen Khachanov defeated him in a gripping five-set quarter-final match. As for his doubles campaign, he couldn’t advance past the third round with his partner and compatriot, Thanasi Kokkinakis. Kyrgios will be seen competing at the Tokyo Open in early October after a disappointing US Open.
Kyrgios message for Carlos Alcaraz
From both fans and other players, the youngest Grand Slam champion since Rafael Nadal got countless felicitations. Nick Kyrgios, the controversial tennis star, was among those who messaged him, but his message stood out.
During the post-match press conference, an interviewer questioned him about his belief in Nick Kyrgios’ predictions. He revealed that when he checked his Instagram after winning, he saw Nick’s dm saying, “I told you so.” He further said that he was not able to read the whole message but just part of the message.
A few days before the US Open, there was a poll on Instagram that asked to pick your winner and had a list of players to choose from. Kyrgios took to his Instagram and answered the poll by choosing Alcaraz. The controversial celebrity chose Alcaraz ahead of more accomplished and seasoned competitors who were likely to be favored before the tournament.
