Andy Roddick was a prodigiously gifted and widely recognized tennis player. Many tennis fans still fondly recall the days when the American tennis pro was a formidable opponent to Roger Federer. The former world number one’s aggressive play and destructive serve made him a joy to watch on the court.

But since retiring in 2012 after a fruitful career, he has settled down to devote his time to his family. The 40-year-old married American model, Brooklyn Decker, three years before he retired in 2009. Since then, the couple has been showered with praise from both the entertainment industry and tennis enthusiasts. Decker, in one of her interviews, revealed an instance where Roddick had his lawyer call her so that he could finally catch up with her.

In 2017, when Andy Roddick was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, Tennis Channel talked to his model and actress wife, Brooklyn Decker, to find out how the couple met for the first time.

So during the interview, Decker spilt the beans about her husband, explaining how he had his attorney get in touch with her so they could finally catch up. “We met it’s a terrible story. I was hosting a show about football for Sports Illustrated on si.com, and he watched it every week and he got his attorney to call my agent at the time and I thought it was very shady as one would and I didn’t call him back for five months.said the 35-year-old.

She further went on to reveal, “He’s really nice and I and I googled him and watched his press conference from the 07 Aussie Open where he was like super dry and sarcastic and I thought well that’s pretty funny. That looks like a charmer and so I called him back and then we were together ever since.

Andy Roddick and his noteworthy career achievements

Roddick bid adieu to the sport at a fairly young age. After several singles successes, he retired from the format in 2012. The now-40-year-old was once the ATP World No. 1 and won 32 singles titles over the course of his career.

He had also won a lone grand slam singles title and five ATP Masters 1000 singles titles. In addition, Roddick played well enough to advance to later rounds in the Grand Slam tournaments. He has managed to reach the semifinals of the Australian Open four times.
