American tennis legend Andre Agassi released his autobiography back in 2009. The eight-time grand Slam champion made some shocking revelations in his book. While the former world number 1 admitted to taking crystal meth and getting away with it, there’s another controversial statement.

The American possibly had consumed a banned drug back in his junior days. However, it was not in his knowledge before. Here’s what Agassi recalled about the incident.

In yet another shocking revelation from his book, Agassi said he might have consumed a banned drug that his father gave him n his junior tennis days. Here’s what he recalls. “I swallow it and I feel good. Not much different. A bit more alert.” However, he realized later that it could be a banned substance when his brother warned Agassi about it.

“Next time you go to the nationals and Paps gives you pills, don’t take them,” Agassi quotes his brother as saying. “As Philly predicted, at the national tournament in Chicago, my father gave me a pill,” Agassi admitted.

Agassi’s admissions earned him a huge backlash from the tennis community. While many condemned his acts, people also questioned him about late revelation.

In his book, Agassi also admitted to hating tennis as a sport. While the American is among the most successful tennis players in history, he was never in love with the game. Notably, Agassi also had a problem with low self-esteem and hated to lose in the game. One of the primary motivations for Agassi to win in tennis was because he hated to lose and not because he loved playing tennis.

Surprisingly, Agassi was extremely successful for someone who hated the sport. Back then, he was the only player to win all four Grand Slam titles at least once. The years 1995-1997 were the toughest for him as the former world number one fell for meth addiction, which impacted his game as well.
