The former American tennis player was recently featured in a podcast where he talked about his new documentary, ‘McEnroe’. Meanwhile, John McEnroe was asked how does he get playing for fun when he plays on the tennis court. The 7-time singles Grand Slam champion answered by saying that he still loves to play the sport on the court.
McEnroe further talked about playing with kids at his tennis academy. He stated, “No wreck that I have now, but you know, I love getting out with the kids at my tennis academy. I have a lot of fun with that.” However, the 63-year-old former tennis player also stated that he picked up a few injuries while playing on the court.

McEnroe added, “Problem is the body’s it’s not responding the way let’s just say the way I would like so. You know, I recently tore my meniscus. I did that four or five years ago. it’s something hurts all the time. But you know, I’m generally l’ve knock on wood. I’ve never had surgery. I’m pretty, you know, keep myself fit.” However, the former US Open champion also stated that he still works hard on the court. McEnroe said, “I keep trying. One more you can do it one more, I just want one hour.”
McEnroe also talked about facing Jimmy Connors
During the podcast, John McEnroe was also asked about facing his compatriot and rival, Jimmy Connors. The 7-time singles Grand Slam champion answered by stating that he was extremely intimidated when he stepped on the court to play against Connors. McEnroe faced his compatriot when he was very young during Wimbledon.

He went on to say that Connors was dominating on the tennis court at that time period. As a result, Connors didn’t have to play to intimidate his opponent, McEnroe, as he was already intimidated before the Wimbledon match started. Since then, McEnroe and Connors have shared a fierce rivalry 0n the court.
