The World No. 4, Stefanos Tsitsipas, proved to be determined and steady about his goal- to get into the semifinals at the Australian Open and that he did with great skill. He defeated Italy’s Jannik Sinner, 6-3, 6-4, 6-2, denying Sinner to be the second Italian at the Tournament’s semifinals after Matteo Berrettini.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’s focus is razor-sharp

Tsitsipas all but annihilated the upcoming Italian. While Sinner did show signs of brilliance here and there, he could not end up capitalizing on crucial points. This match seemed to be a masterclass in tennis, from the greek’s end. Tsitsipas was relaxed, methodical, relied on a heavy forehead, and came forward to the net at opportune times.

In the match, interrupted by a summer rain at Melbourne Park, the greek managed to impress everyone. This was quite possibly his best match in the tournament so far. He had 30 winners to Sinner’s 18 and won all the 4 break points he had.

Frank … certainly told me he didn’t see me participating in the Australian Open. I proved him wrong,” he said.

Tsitsipas next plays the winner of the match between Russia’s Daniil Medvedev and Canada’s Felix Auger-Alliasime for a spot in the finals of this year’s Australian Open. This marks the Greek’s third time at this stage of the Happy Slam. If he can maintain today’s form, he might avoid last year’s history from repeating itself!
