“I know she likes that, too,” he said with a grin. “I like to have tennis conversations with her because I know she has seen me practice and play matches more than anybody out there, and this is where sometimes I pick her brain a bit,” said Federer while talking about his wife Mirka.

While Mirka remains silent in public, her significance in Federer’s career is indisputable. Then, for much of 2004, the Swiss great did not have any coach. He and his wife went alone for breakfast, lunch, or dinner so they had a lot of time together to talk about his game and how he could improve.

“Obviously when we didn’t have any kids and especially in the times when I didn’t have a coach or management, actually, we were having breakfast, lunch, dinner almost alone at the table every single day,” Federer said. “So you can imagine we had so much time to talk about everything.”

Thus, throughout his journey as a professional player and beyond, Mirka Federer has always been by his side no matter what. Even during the days when the Swiss great did not have any coach to the time when the two were working together under a coach, she always stood by her side and provided him with constant support and motivation.
