Recently, he revealed how the crowd is always behind him during his matches.

Shelton’s matches have often been keenly watched by tennis fans. He is one of the most promising youngsters on the tennis tour right now. As a result, there has been much noise from the fans while Shelton plays on the court.

Yesterday, Shelton defeated Australia’s Jordon Thompson in an exciting three-set battle. After his victory, Shelton made a candid confession about how he felt with the crowd right behind him during his matches.

Shelton revealed, “It’s been amazing feeling the crowd support definitely helps with energy and you know really feeling like I’m getting myself going I also have to uh try to stay calm and stay focused at times you know.”

Further, he went on to add, “There’s a lot of things going on in the crowd people yelling I love you Ben when I’m about to serve and uh babies crying people dropping drinks who knows how many um but yeah it’s it’s been really cool to play here and definitely an amazing atmosphere.”

This is not the first occasion in recent times where Shelton has taken a cheeky dig at the crowd. In the recently-concluded Australian Open too, he opened up about the behavior of fans during his matches.

Shelton poked fun at the local crowd

The American sensation defeated the local star, Christopher O’Connell, in the second round of the Australian Open. Despite the local crowd being against him, Shelton braced for the challenge and dished out a hard-fought victory. Subsequently, he gave back to the crowd in a cheeky way.

Shelton said, “It was a tough today against a guy who definitely had that home crowd support. That ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie. Oy oy oy’ chant. I hear it in my sleep at night from last year. But I love the way you guys support your guys.”

Coming to his Dallas Open campaign, Shelton will take on his compatriot, Tommy Paul, in the semifinals later today. It’ll be interesting to see who comes out on the top in this high-voltage contest.
