Further, in the recently concluded Wimbledon Championships, he reached his maiden Grand Slam singles final. He went down fighting against Novak Djokovic in a thrilling four-set match.

Nonetheless, it was a memorable tournament for the Australian, putting on some amazing displays. He had skipped the French Open to focus on the grass-court season. That move seems to have paid off with his runner-up finish at Wimbledon. Recently, his mother recounted how Andy Murray helped him to overcome the toughest phase of his life.

Andy Murray was there at the right time for Nick Kyrgios

Kyrgios had previously opened up about his mental health struggles and walking away from the sport a few years back. During Kyrgios’ tough phase, Andy Murray raised concerns about his health to his former agent, John Morris.

Talking about this, Kyrgios’ mother, Nill, said, “John spoke to me that Andy is worried about Nick because he can see some evidence of self-harm. And I blame others for that. For just pressuring him, criticizing him. Even people we thought might be supporting him.”

Further, she added, “That period was very hard. I just wanted to be next to him constantly so that I could see him… And if I can’t see him I worry about him so much that it becomes very difficult.”

Andy Murray announces grim news

Last week, the former World Number 1 announced the passing away of his pet dog, Maggie. Murray took to Instagram to share this awful news with his fans, saying, “Today our family said goodbye to this amazing little dog. She was a huge part of our family and our first pet so this really hurts…”
