Yesterday, at the Indian Wells, 20-year-old Italian tennis star Jannik Sinner announced sad news for the tennis fans; he withdrew from his round of 16 match against Nick Kyrgios. Due to sudden illness, the Italian player had to make this decision. Fans were already looking forward to seeing the first meeting between him and the Aussie entertainer, Nick Kyrgios. Even Kyrgios himself was looking forward to the match, as he recently posted a video on social media. Also, in that video, he wished Sinner a speedy recovery.

After Jannik Sinner’s Withdrawal from the round of 16 match, Nick Kyrgios will move to the quarter-final without dropping a sweat. However, he felt really sorry for the Italian player, as he was looking forward to their match. Earlier, the Aussie posted a video on his Instagram story, where he talked about Sinner and wished him well in a heartfelt message.

Kyrgios will face Rafael Nadal next
As a result of Sinner’s withdrawal, Kyrgios will face Rafael Nadal in a blockbuster quarter-final clash at the Indian Wells 2022. Currently, Rafa is on an 18-0 winning streak in 2022 and is all set to win his 4th title in 2022. However, he has to go through Kyrgios in order to achieve that. In the past, we have seen some spectacular encounters between the two, filled with plenty of drama.

So far, Rafa had three challenging matches against Sebastian Korda, Dan Evans, and Reilly Opelka. In the round of 16, he beat Opelka in a really tough match; he won it by 7-6,7-6. Meanwhile, before the round of 16 match, Kyrgios showed some good form by beating Sebastian Baez, Federico Delbonis, and the no.8 seed, Casper Ruud.

Interestingly, this meeting will be their 9th meeting overall, as Rafa has a greater head-to-head (5-3) advantage over the Aussie. However, on his day, Kyrgios can beat anyone if he raises his level.
