Novak Djokovic and Maria Sharapova are two of the best players of tennis. While Novak is 20 times Grand Slam winner and is in a neck-to-neck competition with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. For becoming the greatest of all time. Also, the Russian Tennis star Maria Sharapova has won all the Grand Slams and was world number 1 for 21 weeks. The two are very popular all over the world and have been friends over the years. While Djokovic is still ranked number 1 in ATP rankings, Sharapova retired from tennis to focus on her business ventures.

In a recent Instagram live session, while interacting with each other, Novak recalled a funny incident that happened when they shot an ad together for their racquet sponsor, ‘Head.

While talking about various things, Novak remembered a hilarious incident. It happened while they were shooting an advertisement for the tennis racquet brand Head. In the video, Novak and Maria were doing random activities.

One of them was to hit the bottle on the other person’s head by hitting a tennis ball with a racquet. While attempting the same Sharapova by mistake, hit Novak’s balls. Recalling the funny incident on chat, Maria jokingly suggested that it turned out to be lucky for Novak. As the Serb eventually won a few Grand Slam events after that. She suggested doing the same thing again.

“The last time we did it, I hit you in the balls. You won a few grand slams since then, so maybe we should do a repeat,” she said  .Laughing at the correlation, Novak replied, “Well, so after that day I got the new balls, so everything worked out well in the end.”

While the discussion seems to be funny, Novak would really need some luck defending the French Open title. As the young Spanish prodigy, Carlos Alcaraz looks in red hot form and is doing well in the current clay season.

Djokovic Wins the Italian Open

In a wonderful final playing against Stefanos Tsitsipas, Djokovic won 6-0, 7-6(5) to capture the title of Italian Open 2022. The Serb has now won38 ATP masters 1000 titles.

While Novak won the first set easily, the Greek challenged him well in the second set. Although the game could have easily gone to a third set. However, the 34-year-old used his vast experience to outclass his relatively inexperienced opponent.

This was the sixth time Novak has lifted the trophy in the capital of Italy. Also, he became the oldest Italian Open champion at 34 years, 11 months, and 23 days. The legendary player will now look forward to defending his French Open title.
