Nadal reacts to Alize Cornet’s comments

Yesterday, after winning her first match in Wimbledon 2022, French tennis player Alize Cornet made a controversial comment that in the French Open, players had mutually agreed to stop self-testing and keep quiet. The comments came after Matteo Berrettini and Marin Cilic tested positive for covid and pulled out of Wimbledon.

However, the Frenchwoman clarified her statement later.

Reacting to Cornet’s comments, the Spaniard clearly said that he does not know of any such thing. Hence, he should refrain from making any controversial statements.

“In Roland Garros, if am not wrong, I don’t remember cases. If somebody had a positive test, I don’t know. Honestly, I don’t have the whole information to have a clear opinion on that, so I prefer to not talk about things that I don’t know 100%,” he said.

Further, speaking about the rules known to him, the 36-year-old revealed what an ATP physio told him.

“What the physio of the ATP told me is if you have some symptoms, it is up to you that if you want to have a test or not. And if you want to have a test and the test is positive, then you are out. But if now you tell me that even if you are positive you can keep playing. It’s something that I didn’t know,” he concluded.
