Debate erupts after Carlos Alcaraz’s middle-class comment was rejected by fans

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), fans expressed their dissatisfaction over the comments made by the Spaniard. One fan came ahead and suggested, “So not true. Alcaraz family is one of the most important families in Murcia. I am from Valencia, believe me when I say this.” Interestingly, the distance from Valencia to Murcia is apparently 270 km. Not only this, Carlos Alcaraz’s father has been a tennis coach. Not only this, he was also a top 40 tennis player in Spain. On the other hand, his mother has been a sales assistant at IKEA.

While one fan suggested that he wasn’t as middle class as he’d say, another fan disagreed with what he had to say. Opening up on the same, he wrote, “What are u talking about? I’m from Murcia and studied in El Palmar (his village) until I was 18 and I can assure he’d be medium class by the state/public school he went to.” Carlos Alcaraz, while living in El Palmer went to the IES Marqués de los Vélez. On the other hand, his school also made a heartfelt gesture to acknowledge the achievements that he has made. The school where Alcaraz studied in Murcia has painted a portrait of Carlitos on one of their buildings.

Taking the debate further was another fan who suggested that Carlos Alcaraz, while being middle class at one point is chasing money now with a

Jannik Sinner example. “He went from being humble to chasing money real quick. Sinner, on the other hand, has always stayed humble and content, not running after cash like that,” said the fan. While Carlos Alcaraz bagged nearly $10 million in prize money this year, Jannik Sinner bagged around $16 million in prize money. This has much to do with the $6 million that he won in the Saudi Kings Cup. However, Carlos Alcaraz played two more exhibitions in America, namely the Gardens Cup and the Charlotte Invitational where he bagged significant prize money.

“It’s great for the players. I mean, I was told that Carlos will make more money this week than he will from any others, he made more money this week between these exhos than he did for winning Wimbledon,” revealed Jon Wertheim in a Served with Andy Roddick podcast.

Amidst the ongoing debate, a fan revealed a sneak peek into Carlos Alcaraz’s house that showed a huge balcony at his house in El Palmar. With the balcony quite big, it made fans wonder if he was middle class. Speaking further on the debate, a fan suggested, “The fact he has a balcony already tells you he is not “middle-class”,” while stirring the debate further.

Last, but not least, this fan yet again triggered the balcony image with the words, “Carlos on the big balcony of his huge mansion”. Interestingly, Carlos Alcaraz, despite being a millionaire at 21 years old prefers to live in his parents’ apartment. The apartment is situated above a small restaurant. However, the reports now suggest that he is on the lookout for a new house where he can give a ton of space to his parents.
