With the Shanghai Masters coming into the picture of tennis, a lot of incidents from past matches are coming up and being reminded of. One such incident that has lived in the minds of many was between Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer. It is the incident where Novak hit Roger on the left side with the ball during the match and did not even come up to apologize to him.
And now since the tournament is coming back Roger will be felicitated at the ceremony. The video of their match is going viral again and people are questioning if this shot was legitimate or not. Owing to the same, tennis star Andy Murray shared his opinion about this incident while calling Novak Djokovic out for his ‘double standards’.

In the match between Novak and Roger at the Shanghai Masters, when Novak hit Roger on the left side, people expected him to apologize which he did not. However, Roger did not react to the situation and came out as the bigger person.

Recently a video of the same incident is playing on the internet and Andy Murray posted a comment on it. He said, “Totally legitimate play. Great shot. However, when Rafa clocked him in Canada and Norrie in Rome he reacted like ‘How dare you?’”
In his comment, Andy highlights the fact that of course, Novak’s shot was legitimate and not intentional. But at the same time he also brings out the fact that when the same thing happened to Novak, his reaction was different. Here the incident Andy is talking about is the match between Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal.

What happened between Novak and Rafael at the Rogers Cup 2013?
At the Rogers Cup semi-final match between Rafael and Novak, a similar incident took place where Novak did not handle it as well as Roger did when he hit him on the left. While playing the match, Rafael hit Novak in the face with the ball. But the difference was that he apologized to him instantly whereas Novak did not apologize to Roger when he had hit him.

However, even though Rafael apologized to him, he still had an angry look on his face which Andy was talking about. This difference in the attitude that Novak has when he is in the same situation is what Andy was pointing out. And Andy very cleverly exposed the GOAT’s ‘double standards’ too.
