Rafael Nadal has had a historic season this year. The Spaniard clinched the Australian Open 2022, after making a comeback from an injury-prone last season. Subsequently, he became the first man to lift 21 Grand Slam singles titles. It was a tremendous feat from Nadal, having to come from two sets down in the summit clash against Daniil Medvedev. By winning the opening Grand Slam of the season, he left behind his on-court rivals, Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic, who are tied at 20 major titles apiece.

Lin-Manuel Miranda gives an example of Rafael Nadal

The American singer-songwriter is nominated for the Academy Awards for Encanto. If he wins the Oscar, he will complete the EGOT. Talking about wanting to achieve this status, he said, “It’s like stats. When (Spanish tennis champion) Rafa Nadal broke the record for most Opens, he wasn’t thinking about breaking the record. He was just thinking about, ‘there’s a ball coming at me very fast. And I have to hit the ball back.’ And that’s how I feel when I’m writing the tune. It’s like somebody throwing a ball at me.”
