Tennis legend Boris Becker, who previously coached Novak Djokovic to six Grand Slam titles between 2014-2016, has reunited with his former star pupil to mentor the next generation. In a recent Instagram post, Becker was pictured alongside Djokovic and Danish teenager Holger Rune, referring to themselves as the “3 Musketeers”.

As one of the most successful coaches in tennis history, having guided many players in their pursuit of Grand Slam titles, Becker is putting his expertise to good use in helping 19-year old Rune develop his game and mentality. Now, as Rune finds some help from the ‘Djoker’ himself, he is sure to improve further.

The photo, uploaded to Becker’s Instagram story, shows the trio smiling together. It provides insight into Becker’s continued close relationship with Novak Djokovic long after their partnership ended, as well as his new role mentoring Rune as he comes up the ranks.

Holger Rune expressed his gratitude for Becker and Djokovic’s counsel. In an interview with ATP Tour‘s website, Rune said: “To learn from Boris and get advice from Novak is really helping me progress. They understand the pressures of the top level from their own experiences.” The Dane’s breakthrough 2022 season, which included his maiden ATP title in Munich, is proof that his hard work under Becker is already paying dividends.

Players come, they fly high; they move on. However, a coach keeps on nurturing young players. Years after training Novak Djokovic, Boris Baker surely remembers the rise and fall of the legend.
