Goran Ivanisevic praises Novak Djokovic for sticking to his words about the covid vaccine
In a recent interview with Ubitennis, Novak’s Croatian coach, Ivanisevic spoke about his decision not to take the vaccine. Ivanisevic showed massive respect for the Serbian for risking his career for the sake of his own family.
When asked whether he tried to persuade him or not, Ivanisevic said, “It’s his life, his decision. I respect his decision, his family. He said it truly that he’s going to risk his career. I even love him more for that because he’s standing by what he’s saying. He’s the only person in the world who says what he thinks. You know, one day they say one thing, one day they say another. He, from the beginning, is straight and this is why I respect him even more.”
Also, he’s optimistic that Novak will play in the US Open. “Hopefully this pandemic is going to stop. Only now he can play all the tournaments. I hope that America will open so he will be able to play the US Open in September,” he added.

After the shocking loss to Davidovich Fokina, Djokovic’s coach revealed that he was not well before the start of the tournament. Even the Serb said he could not compete physically in the third set against Fokina. Also, his lack of match practice could be another factor in his loss.
At the moment, he’s able to play a limited amount of tournaments with the recent changes in rules and regulations. However, this is hampering the Serb’s chances in the Grand Slam tournaments. He already missed the Australian Open after a lot of drama surrounding his visa. The French Open will be the next Grand Slam, followed by Wimbledon. There’s a slight possibility he might play the Wimbledon as well. It will be interesting to see if he will be able to defend his title in both tournaments.
