Australian tennis ace Nick Kyrgios paired up with former US Open champion Bianca Andreescu for an exhibition event. The duo played a doubles match against Holger Rune and Eugenie Bouchard. Playing for the Eagles in the World Tennis League, the Australian-Canadian pair made a winning start. Kyrgios and Andreescu defeated Rune and Bouchard in straight sets.
Later, Andreescu spoke about her experience of playing with Nick Kyrgios. Here’s what she said.

“I thought the chemistry was great right from the start,” Andreescu said. She further added, “We’re both pretty outgoing people so I thought that we’re going to bring great energy and we played very well. I think we both have great hands. I think he’s rubbing off on me a little bit on the serve and on the volleys, so hopefully, we can keep it going.”
World Tennis League at Dubai is a completely new concept where the players play in teams. Other big names participating in the tournament are Iga Swiatek, Novak Djokovic, and Holger Rune. The tournament doesn’t have its affiliation with ATP or WTA.

Kyrgios likes team events
Nick Kyrgios is a big fan of team events. Even though the Ranking points are not up for grabs in the off-season exhibition event, the 27-year-old likes enjoying the team environment.
Speaking about his experience in the World Tennis League, the Australian Open doubles champion said that it is a new experience. Further, world number 22 added that it is a great opportunity for him, as it is rare that he gets an opportunity to sit alongside Rohan Bopanna and Bianca Andreescu.

The Aussie had a great season and made it to his first Grand Slam final. Later, he also had a quarterfinal run in the US Open. This has been by far the best season for him. With the 2023 season up in a few days, it will be interesting to see if Kyrgios can finally win his first Grand Slam title.
