In a shocking statement, tennis legend Boris Becker has weighed in on the possibility of Rafael Nadal not returning to the sport. Becker’s perspective centers on Nadal’s unwavering hunger for victory as the sole motivator for his comeback.

He pays tribute to Nadal’s status as a global role model, echoing the sentiments of millions of eager fans who eagerly await his return to the tennis arena rather than to the retirement announcement podium. “Nadal is a role model for everyone. Millions of fans around the world want to see him back on the tennis court and not in the press conference, where he declares that he may not be able to play again,” Becker said on Eurosport Germany’s podcast Das Gelbe vom Ball.

“I also believe that he would never come back if he doesn’t see a chance for himself. So, he’s not coming back to play the first or second round, but to win tournaments,” he further continued.

Becker’s assertion is clear: Nadal will only make a comeback if he envisions a path to victory. The Spaniard’s hunger for more glory is a driving force behind his potential return. It’s not about participating in the early rounds; it’s about competing to win tournaments once again.
