Boris Becker, the tennis legend who’s no stranger to drama on or off the court, now finds himself in the middle of a heated family feud. His third marriage to Lilian de Carvalho Monteiro seems to be stirring up more than just headlines, as Becker’s ex-wife, Lilly Becker, has publicly slammed him for neglecting his children amid his new relationship.

Becker married Lilian on September 14, Saturday in the Italian Coastal town of Portofino. In the wedding photos published by Vogue, Becker was seen in a cream-coloured suit jacket while his wife was spotted in an off-the-shoulder white dress. But as he moves to the next chapter of his life, his ex-wife Lilly Kerssenberg, hits out at the former player for snubbing his only daughter and the youngest son from his marriage.

Speaking to the German magazine Bunte, Kerssenberg said, “When I asked Amadeus (Becker’s son) about it, he was surprised. He didn’t know anything about it.” Continuing further, she claimed that the incident impacted the growing kid. “Of course, he’s wondering why he wasn’t invited and why his father didn’t tell him anything about it. He’s not a child anymore. He’s 14! Behaving that way towards our son really is the last straw. Who doesn’t want him to come?” Remember, Becker’s third marriage was not a sudden activity. 

Becker started dating the political risk manager Lilian in 2022 before finally marrying her on September 14 in the Italian Coastal town of Portofino. In a three-day-long wedding ceremony, the couple witnessed around 150 attendees which included the likes of ATP Chairman Andrea Gaudenzi, Dutch footballer Ruud Gullit, German actor and model Boris Kodjoe, and Noah.

Interestingly, this is not the first time when Becker has received such backlash from Kerssenberg. Speaking to Daily Mail Newspaper in May last year, Becker’s estranged wife called him selfish. “It’s a constant stream of Me, Me, Me. Give me a break,” she said. “I know this man. I was married to this man. I am still married to this man. Boris doesn’t care about anybody but Boris,” she added.

Interestingly, Becker has always expressed his idea of living an exciting life irrespective of the adverse situations.

Boris Becker has continued to enjoy his life in a way that very few can. Despite witnessing some difficult situations, he has continued to depict a positive outlook at least when it comes to his idea of life. In an interview with L’equipe in 2023, Becker candidly opened up about his perspective on life.

“I’ve had a pretty interesting and exciting life, full of experiences, both good and bad,” Becker said. For the unversed, Becker had to endure a difficult phase that included financial instabilities and a short tenure in prison. However, the 6-time Grand Slam champion never let anything impact his love for life. “But I am a very open person on the subject. The last thing I need is to have a boring life. I’m not cut out for that. I have always been very involved in the world of tennis,” he further added.

For now, it remains to be seen if Becker comes out and gives a justification for not inviting his children to his third wedding. Will there be more controversy over the matter? Only time will tell.
