Carlos Alcaraz has started his dominant campaign against the German Alexander Zverev from the get-go. The Spaniard won the first set with ease without giving the latter any moment to make a comeback. It certainly seems that Alcaraz saved the best for the finals! However, the flow of the match could change at any moment, as the German tennis star is at his best fitness and form. Zverev would not let his opponent win without a tough fight, if the result came out to be in the Spaniard’s favor. But as the clash has begun, so has the observation of fans and experts alike!

There have been many proponents who have predicted the 21-year-old to win his first French Open today. Andy Roddick is one of them, who believes that Alcaraz is the favorite and as he has already claimed the 1st set, Roddick couldn’t help but praise his form. He shared his thoughts and observations on X  as the match went on, Alcaraz flashing every different ball flight in BH. Massive improvement compared to a couple of years ago. Slice, flat, loop, droppers …. Zverev doesn’t just miss balls randomly.

Certainly, the World No.3 has made some improvements in his playing style and form over time. And it didn’t go unnoticed as the Germans were finding it difficult to counter Alcatraz’sform. He further added, He’s too good. Alcaraz mixing ball flight up to perfection. Zverev not hitting balls consecutively from the same spot.”

Another tennis star to join the Carlos bandwagon was the

American actor, Sendhil Ramamurthy, known for his role in sci-fi dramaheroes‘ and Mindy Kaling’s Never Have I Ever, interestingly narrated by John McEnroe, joined the tennis stars on X, to highlight the youngster’s confidence. He tweetedCarlos smiling after errors makes me smile. Wish I did that after errors instead of getting down on myself. Letting Zverev know he’s got this even with errors. It’s a massive show of confidence to smile despite making errors!

Such unratteled faith in the 21-year-old, who’s well on his way to becoming a legend. But joining this parade of praise was another veteran tennis star, who had already chosen the Spaniard as his winner before Roland Garros even began!

Former Australian World No.1 doubles player, Paul McNamee, pointed out Alcaraz’s major weapon, which has done damage on the clay court. He said, “Alcaraz decisively wins the 1st set over Zverev. He’s not playing off the charts, but one major difference is evidenthis superior mobility and balancetextbook clay court movement by the Spaniard doing the damage.” Nothing extraordinary, playing by book on clay, yet Alcaraz seems out of the reach of the German as the match proceeds further.

Alcaraz has impressed the crowd on the court and the viewers with his start. However, Zverev is back in the game as he took back the 2nd set. And the finale might go to a 5-set thriller where both the players would be fighting for each point, to claim their first Clay Slam tonight!
