What’s astonishing is Nole fetched the gold medal despite being 37. This, in turn, has attracted a fellow player’s comments on his jaw-dropping attainment.

The Serb’s chances of concluding his long-lost ambitions at the Paris Olympics slimmed due to a knee injury at the 2024 French Open. However, Nole was spectated in action at Wimbledon, even reaching the final. Regardless of the result, the Serb went all in during his Olympics adventure. Having faced all odds, he came out on top, outclassing Alcaraz to win the gold medal, adding more weight to his name in the GOAT debate. As praise came from all around, Matteo Berrettini wasn’t far behind to commend Nole’s resilience.

On the Served With Andy Roddick podcast on August 13, the Italian was bewildered by Djokovic’s latest feat and labeled him as a “cyborg” for keeping up with the young blood. He further cited his uncertainty about performing at Nole’s level. He said, “Talking about Novak and what he has achieved, it’s unbelievable. I get goosebumps. I don’t know how he does it. He’s a cyborg also for the fact that at 37, he’s still playing at that level. And I don’t know if I’m going to still play at 37, looking at my history of injuries, I don’t know.”

For those unaware, the World No. 6 has had hard luck consistently delivering results due to his prolonged battle with multiple injuries. He has skipped four Majors since 2022. Furthermore, the Wimbledon finalist’s most recent withdrawal was at the 2024 Italian Open.

Moreover, the Italian is just one name in the long list of entities lauding the former World No. 1’s feat. Notably, Andy Roddick also was prompted to address the Serb’s golden glory.
