The semifinal of the 2022 Wimbledon was full of drama. As Tsitsipas faced Kyrgios, he received a point penalty in the second set. Not realizing it at first, Tsitsipas played the match normally. As the Netflix tennis docuseries released the second part of its first season, tennis fans got a deeper look into the behind-the-scenes of their favorites. In the episode titled, ‘Saints and Sinners’, the show talked about the 2022 Wimbledon. It touched on Ons Jabeur and the match between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas. Many remember it to be a dramatic match.
In his feature, the former number 3 stated, “Could have been a great match to watch, but unfortunately, it got ruined and turned into a silly circus show. I’m very sad as well that it escalated that way and I ended up getting angry.”
Touching upon the match in his segment, the Greek player remembers it as a low moment. With a default, Kyrgios aimed to get him disqualified, and Tsitsipas aimed for Kyrgios’ body in easy shots, the bout took the cake as drama filled.

What transpired in the semifinal match between Tsitsipas & Kyrgios
Tsitsipas won the first set of their bout. Kyrgios returned and won the second set, but not before some issues. In frustration, Tsitsipas hit a ball in the crowd, almost hitting a spectator. Seething with anger at the display, Kyrgios rushed the umpire, asking him to default Tsitsipas.
But the Greek player only received a default. The Aussie was not happy with the penalty. He vehemently argued that the umpire should disqualify Tsitsipas. He gave the example of Novak Djokovic, who was disqualified after hitting a lineswoman at the 2020 US Open.
