Even though, since 2021, the former world number one tennis player was not quite active at the sporting arena because of injuries, it is one of the biggest reasons why he decided to call off his tennis career last year. Somewhere down in his heart, Federer knew that dealing with his knee injuries and waiting to make a comeback can be quite heartbreaking and would be tough.

Recently, his former long-time coach, in an interview with SonntagsBlick, expressed a different possibility that Federer would have experienced if he never faced any health problems.

The 47-year-old former player said, “He can now focus on other things: the family, the house building, his foundation and the sponsors. He no longer has the stress of repeatedly building up tension before tournaments. He will surely appreciate that. Because tennis itself was never the problem. He would have continued to play until 100 if he had been able to.”

Nonetheless, it would not be incorrect to suppose that one of the key reasons why the Swiss Maestro is presently not active in the tennis arena is because of his quivering injuries. Neither would he have stopped playing more tennis, taking the sport to a totally different level.

John McEnroe’s take on Federer’s retirement

When the former Swiss legend announced that he would be retiring from the Laver Cup, the 64-year-old American tennis star talked in an interview with ESPN about how, even at the age of 41, he can still win a Grand Slam title. But then he highlighted that Federer’s life is being totally entitled to what he wants rather than what other people believe in.

Further, McEnroe talked about how he said six years ago that he shared the same belief, and even the 20-time Grand Slam champion came back stronger after not playing for six months. Not only that, but he also did the unthinkable and made his way to the Wimbledon final.
