Martin Kove, known for his role as the sadistic John Kreese in the Cobra Kai TV series, recently shared a life-changing moment he had on a tennis court. He had a tennis match with an iconic actor who portrayed James Bond on the big screen in numerous movies. In an exclusive interview, Kove revealed how he learned the art of listening from the actor during his early days in the entertainment industry. He also added that he got the opportunity to play tennis with him 15 years later. Despite the James Bond actor’s back problems, Kove cherishes the memory of playing tennis with the iconic actor and shares an interesting anecdote about it.

Kove shares details about his tennis match with the first James Bond

Sir Sean Connery was the first actor to play the role of the iconic British spy James Bond. He starred in seven Bond films between 1962 and 1983. Alongside Roger Moore, Connery holds the record for the most portrayals of James Bond. In 1965, after his third appearance as Bond in Goldfinger, Time magazine described James Bond as the biggest mass-cult hero of the decade.

Kove’s early days as an actor were marked by hard work and dedication. In 1972, he got a chance to work as Sean Connery’s stand-in for the movie, The Anderson Tapes. Despite being a glorified extra, Kove learned valuable lessons from Connery. According to the Daily Record, he shared, “I learned one thing. I learned how to listen by watching Sean Connery.”

Kove bumped into Connery 15 years later on a tennis court. The student couldn’t resist introducing himself and asking if Connery remembered him. However, to his surprise, Connery had no recollection of their previous encounter. Nevertheless, the two decided to hit the ball, and Kove was overjoyed to play tennis with his childhood hero. He shared, “We were hitting the ball and he was terrible. He had a back problem and he was cursing as we do as teenagers and I’m cracking up hysterically.”

Kove’s experience on the tennis court with Connery taught him a valuable lesson. The experience taught him the importance of listening and empathy for others.
