Novak Djokovic, the Serbian tennis legend, and his former coach, Boris Becker, were not related by blood but shared an intense bond with each other. Back in 2014, when the 35-year-old tennis player won his third Wimbledon Championships, he expressed his gratitude for having the German tennis player by his side and revealed the secret behind their strong bond.
Throughout their 3 years of partnership, the world number one and the German tennis legend accomplished a lot on the professional circuit. And despite their split, the two tennis icons still get along well and don’t have any negative memories of their collaboration.

Novak Djokovic expresses his bond with Boris Becker?
The 22-time Grand Slam champion appeared in the German tennis player’s Apple TV+ documentary, ‘Boom! Boom! The World vs. Boris Becker.’ The 55-year-old former tennis player’s life as a coach was amply depicted in that documentary. It also shined light on the period that Boris and the Serbian tennis star were working as a team.
In that documentary, the top-ranked tennis player in the world discussed what it was like to work with the German tennis player as a coach during the tense Wimbledon final in 2014, where he faced Roger Federer.

Talking about having the calm and composed figure of Becker by his side, Djokovic said, “You know, having him there, he was just so serene, he was just so strong and he stood his ground. He knows exactly what I am going through. Okay, I am back here again, where I need to be, and focus on the next point. Throughout the match, there was a lot of oscillations, right?”

He also emphasized how the 55-year-old tennis player helped him through the tight circumstances of the championship match.
Boris Becker was the best thing that happened to Djokovic?
In 2021, Ion Tiriac revealed the time when the Serbian tennis player believed that appointing the six-time Grand Slam champion as his coach was the best thing that ever happened to him. In an old interview with Spox, Tiriac revealed that the 35-year-old tennis player used to always listen to Becker. Additionally, the Romanian former tennis star revealed the time when the Djoker told him that Becker was the best thing that ever happened to him as a tennis player.

Further, he also mentioned that the Serbian tennis player was quite cheerful when he worked with his former coach. That made Tiriac believe that Becker was the ideal coach for the Serb.
