Fresh off his recent win in his debut at the Queen’s Club Championship, Alcaraz showcased his potential by defeating Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in a thrilling match that lasted two and a half hours. When asked about his approach to mastering the challenging grass court surface, Alcaraz acknowledged the importance of observing the best players in action. “That helps a lot. I have always said that in grass you have to move well and from there everything else,” he stated. “Speaking for myself, I like to put on videos of Federer, from Murray, who are some of the players who move best on grass.”

However, Alcaraz tactfully avoided discussing Djokovic’s gameplay on grass, suggesting that the Serbian’s playing style might not align with his own. “I’m not going to talk about Djokovic because he slips (on grass) as if it were dirt, and that’s not going to be my case,” Alcaraz remarked. His decision to focus on Federer and Murray reveals his intention to emulate their footwork and movement patterns, which have proven to be effective on grass courts.

The young Spaniard emphasized that his motivation for watching these seasoned veterans was not solely about their shots but also about their court coverage. Alcaraz explained how it’s more about how the players move on the grass court rather than how they hit the ball. By studying their movement, he aims to enhance his agility and positioning on the grass, factors crucial for success at Wimbledon, as reported by Tennis Infinity.
