Is Carlos Alcaraz already surpassing the legends, or is it too soon to crown him?

Like a tornado on the tennis court, Carlos Alcaraz is shattering records and rewriting the rulebook! Defying all odds and redefining the boundaries of what’s possible, he is now on a hunt for his second Grand Slam at Wimbledon and also this season! Showing no “errors” while overpowering his injuries and his opponents, Carlos Alcaraz is not going to repeat the mistakes of the former tennis legends. Noting his unbeatable form, Jim Courier has complete faith in the Spaniard’s talent.

During a conversation with Lindsay Davenport and Brett Haber, in the Tennis Channel Live podcast’s July 11 episode, Courier noted the key factors driving the three-time Grand Slam champion in his goal to etch his name in the tennis world. “And we thought that, you know, players this young would struggle given the physicality of men’s tennis, but he broke through that one is a team we hadn’t seen that for quite some time.”

Drawing comparisons with Boris Becker, a former World No. 1, who won the Wimbledon title at 17, and Bjorn Borg, a winner of five consecutive titles at the All England Club, and Mats Vilander, a winner of the French Open title at age 17, Courier added, “But there were eras when Bjorn Borg And Mats Wilander and Boris Becker were winning multiple majors as teens and Alcaraz is kind of picking up that baton not as winning his teens but winning a lot early. ”

When Carlos Alcaraz’s clay court season had a halt owing to his right arm injury after the Miami Open, he did not lose hope. Instead, the world No. 2 pushed his limits further, strategically taking his time away to recover and be back in the French Open. The Spaniard skipped three tournaments before stealing the show in Paris. He not only won the title but also became the youngest male player to conquer the career Surface Slam record!

While his ATP ranking took a step up, Carlos Alcaraz took down all his five opponents to secure a place in the semifinals at Wimbledon. His aim? To add a 15th ATP title and a 4th Grand Slam to his record. The former U.S. Open winner might still be two steps away from recreating his last year’s victory in London, but in the eyes of Courier, he is already a champion.
