‘He Lived at the Tennis Center for 16 Years’ – Emotional Frances Tiafoe Recalls His Father’s Lifelong Sacrifice for His Future

Behind every successful player today, there is someone who worked tirelessly to make sure that they reached the heights that they deserved to fly in. The same was the case with the American sensation, Frances Tiafoe. Deep behind the heroics that he shows on the court today lie countless sacrifices that his father once made to ensure that his child gets the best life.

Reflecting on the same, Tiafoe, in an interview, talked about the struggles that his dad went through while he was still young. He also revealed how his father lived at the under-construction site for around 16 years.

In a recent revelation, Frances Tiafoe came ahead and talked about the sacrifices that his father made at a time when he was a kid. While suggesting that his father and mother did not live together, he went ahead to address that his dad was a maintenance worker at that time. He was the main person who helped build the tennis center.

However, during the process, he had no home, and because of this, he had to live at the Tennis Center for around 16 years. This was one of the most problematic times for the Tiafoe family, and as a young kid, Frances Tiafoe did not have access to the amenities that others had. However, despite this, he did not shy away and started to have a liking towards the sport.

“My dad was a maintenance worker at that time, a construction worker who helped build the academy which is the Tennis center now in 99. My mom and dad weren’t together at that time. He lived at the Tennis Center for like 16 years,” said Tiafoe while talking about the sacrifices that his dad made.

Thus, amidst the challenges of their surroundings, tennis became their refuge. Frances Tiafoe spent countless nights within the center’s walls, absorbing the sport’s energy and the opportunities it offered. From living in the tennis center to building his dream life, he has come a long way.

Not only this but further in the interview, he also went ahead to talk about how supportive his parents were. Tiafoe revealed how he fell in love with the sport because he was never actually forced into it.

Further in the interview, Tiafoe went ahead to suggest that his parents played a big role in his career as a player. They never made it mandatory for him to play tennis or do anything else. Tiafoe revealed that his parents were very open-minded and they allowed him to think what was best for him and then proceed with that.

“We just fell in love with tennis. They didn’t push it on us at all. They were like you have the opportunity if you want to do it and I just took a liking to it,” said Tiafoe while talking about his initial liking towards the sport.

Thus, despite going through multiple obstacles throughout his life, Frances Tiafoe managed to build an extraordinary career in tennis. From just watching people play around in the court to becoming one of the best in the country, Tiafoe traveled a long way.
