“I’m a practical person,” Sam Querrey said while joking about his lack of emotions in life. But to what extent? Querrey, the former ATP player known for his razor-sharp serves, found himself on the receiving end of a hilarious serve, courtesy of his wife, Abby Dixon! The former American tennis player seamlessly established his power on the ATP circuit, winning 10 titles and reaching the number 11 rank during his career. But it seems the 36-year-old’s skills on the court do not quite translate to aquatic animal care!
On August 9, Querrey and Steve Johnson reflected on the hot topics of tennis on the Nothing Major podcast, including Novak Djokovic’s Olympic triumph and the ongoing Canadian Open. However, as the conversation headed towards Querrey, a wild topic caught the attention of fans. This happened when Querrey’s wife, whom he married in 2018, appeared for a special segment during the show. Earlier in the same podcast, the 36-year-old former tennis player admitted to shedding a tear for the first time in 15 years while watching Djokovic achieve his first Olympic gold medal in the finals. Quite unbelievable, right?
Thankfully, the sole witness to this incident was his wife, Dixon, who was there with him, sitting on the sofa, watching TV during that moment. Therefore, it was only fair to bring her on the show to vouch for that incident. Although initially she humorously agreed with Querrey’s little but significant emotional depth, corroborating the fact with the evidence of his willingness to have a marriage and children, it soon took an even more hilarious turn. Steve insisted Abby talk about the goldfish story to the audience. To this, Querrey’s wife replied, “He killed the fish while I was out of town.”

Johnson asked in horror, “The fish was alive when you flushed it down the toilet?” Querrey quickly jumped into the conversation, defending himself and shooting a question to his wife, “You didn’t notice for 4 days. I was like you didn’t like the fish.” In an attempt to defend himself once again, Querrey opened up, saying, “It’s not a golden retriever but a goldfish that you brought at a carnival.”
While everyone laughed, Johnson couldn’t hold back his thoughts and asked the next question about whether the fish was still alive somewhere or not. Abby hoped that it should be, but Querrey concluded by adding “in a sewer system.”
After this playful revelation that exposed a side of Sam that is both endearingly imperfect and hilarious, everyone at last agreed on Querrey’s “goldfish heart” and the fact that he has probably some part of his soul left in him, as his wife confirmed that Querrey did cry after Djokovic’s historic Olympic win. He might not be comfortable showing his emotions so easily. However, when it comes to having fun with his friends and showcasing his humorous side to the world, he does not shy away!

Querrey imitates Eugenie Bouchard with a hilarious Instagram post
When Querrey saw Bouchard posing in her backyard while taking a shower, wearing a two-piece bathing suit a few months ago, he might have thought that he could pull off the same! Soon, he was posing in a similar fashion, wearing a green swimsuit, garnering the attention of thousands of fans on his Instagram. The Canadian player, shocked at this, later on, said,
“I cannot believe he did that. He is just so funny. I just I had no words … I— the poses were the same, the outfits, the props, the hose, he had everything.”

Further replying to Querrey’s “How’d I do,” caption on Instagram, Bouchard added, “I don’t know how much time he spent on that. Probably way too much time. He probably should have been looking after his kids a little more. But you know what? We’ll take it because that was just pure gold.”
