Ivan Ljubicic, a former Croatian tennis player and the ex-coach of the legendary Roger Federer, has shared his thoughts on the rising Spanish tennis sensation Carlos Alcaraz. As a seasoned professional with years of experience both on the court and in coaching, Ljubicic has a keen eye for talent and a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
Carlos Alcaraz, currently ranked at no. 1 in the ATP rankings, has achieved more than what anyone expected from him at just 20 years of age. Alcaraz’s aggressive playing style, powerful groundstrokes, and incredible athleticism have quickly earned him a reputation as one of the sport’s most exciting prospects. Ljubicic expressed his admiration for Alcaraz’s undeniable talent but also voiced concerns about the physical demands being placed on the young player’s body.

The physical demands of the sport, particularly at the highest level, can take a toll on even the fittest and most well-conditioned athletes. With Alcaraz’s high-intensity playing style and relentless drive to succeed, there is a genuine risk that he may push his body too far, too soon.

In an interview with Tennis Majors, Ivan shared his concerns about what this high intensity might be doing to the player’s body. He said, “He is something we haven’t seen so far – some sort of ‘sick’ combination of Djokovic, Federer and Nadal. I just hope that his body holds up because he is putting crazy demands on his body at this moment”.
Ljubicic’s concerns are not unfounded, as the history of professional tennis is filled with examples of talented players whose careers were cut short or hampered by injuries.
