Carlos Alcaraz, the 19-year-old, who first hit the headlines with his splendid performance in the Indian Wells this year, hasn’t left the charts since then. The youngster reigned in Miami, following which he claimed the title at Madrid. On his way to the crown, Carlos outclassed his idol, Rafael Nadal and ended up defeating Alexander Zverev in the final.
Speaking of idols, the Spaniard has spoken several times about the tennis players he admires and why he admires them. However, this is the first time he has shared his thoughts about the legends of football.

What Does Carlos Alcaraz Have to Say About Ronaldo and Messi?
There has always been a debate about who amongst Rolando and Messi is the better player. Here’s what the rising star of tennis has to say about the same.
While addressing the press after his withdrawal from the Italian Open, Carlos said, “Those of us who have watched football since the Cristiano era have been lucky. And Messi, because they are two gods.”
“I am a fan of Real Madrid, but not of the radicals. Personally, I am sincerely Cristiano (Ronaldo), but with Messi, I am not going to deny that they are one of the best in history.” Thereafter, he disclosed what, according to him, distinguishes Messi from Ronaldo.
“Messi has a different kind of football than Cristiano. For me, he has more variety.”
Carlos won his fourth title of the year in Madrid, though, along with the trophy, he brought back an unwanted injury. He incurred an injury to his right ankle while competing in quarterfinals of the tournament, which in turn has forced him to sit out for the ongoing Italian Open. However, fans are confident about his recovery and participation in the French Open.

Carlos Alcaraz has encountered Nadal thrice in his career. Their first encounter came at the 2021 Madrid Open, where Nadal thrashed Alcaraz in straight sets. Even though Alcaraz fought tooth and nail, he failed to secure a win against Nadal’s experience and endurance.
However, he used his learnings from that defeat and used it to good advantage at Madrid this year. The young blood and the current World No.6 defeated his country’s legend in the red dirt, 6-2, 1-6, 6- 3.
