After being away for almost a year, returning to the sport won’t be that easy. But the Spaniard is ready to make a comeback and try his best to start from where he left off a year ago. While a lot of people have a different take on his comeback, Becker believes that there will be bumps in his tennis journey while revealing his practical target of the year.

Well, in an interview with Eurosport, the 56-year-old tennis veteran detailed how Nadal’s year can be filled with ups and downs. He stated, “I don’t think his expectations for Melbourne are sky-high right now: if he wins a few matches there, good for him. He will then concentrate on the clay-court tournaments early on. He’ll definitely play Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Madrid and maybe even Rome in order to be 100 per cent fit again in Paris.”

Even after starting a year filled with tournaments and opportunities, Becekr highlighted that he will have a great time after entering the clay courts. The German tennis star added, “His goal has to be Roland Garros, and then the Olympics, both of which will be played in Paris on clay. But he has to play first: he will only gain match fitness and match practice by playing in matches.”

Further, he highlighted that even after all this, he has to suffer a little bit in the first few months of the year so that he can play his best. Nevertheless, just a few days ago, Serena Williams‘ former coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, also got real at the 37-year-old tennis titan’s comeback while asserting his chances of achieving glory.

The definition of a good year for Rafael Nadal!

Nadal has everyone speculating about his possible trajectory for the upcoming tennis season. While everyone is sharing their opinion, the 42-year-old American tennis legend’s former coach also chimed in and talked about what needs to happen for the Spaniard to have a good 2024 tennis season.

He stated, “I mean, he’s not someone who plays to not win Grand Slams. A good season for him. He has to win a grand slam.” Along with that, he also mentioned that if the Spaniard wins anything other than Roland Garros, it will be a huge surprise and, at the same time, a huge achievement for him. However, a lot of things will depend on his physical health, but even winning a French Open title can give him the joy of having a good year.
