Arthur Fils had not won a tour-level match before the 2023 season. He finished the year with a 23-18 match record which includes his stellar 4-1 run in Jeddah. Serbia’s Hamad Medjedovic defeated him in the finals of Next Gen Finals by 3-4, 4-1, 4-2, 3-4, 4-1 in a 2 hours 11 minutes thrilling encounter. But even after the loss, the Frenchman gets showered with praise from Chris Eubanks.

Chris Eubanks said, For Arthur starting the year outside 220 in the world. Now he finds himself just a few spots away from being seeded at the Australian Open, what a milestone year, it’s been for him. I know he and his team are disappointed with how the season ended with this match. But when you look at things, from a grander view, you see that Arthur has had an incredible year.”

Continuing his focus on the bigger picture, Eubanks went on to add, “He’s an incredible player, one of the nicest guys you’re going to find in the locker room. And with the talent and the cachet that he has on the court, he has the makings of a tennis star.”

The 27YO American is just two positions ahead of the 19YO Frenchman in ATP singles ranking. Both of them are on the verge of making it top 20s in the ranking. Who’ll get there first? Meanwhile, it looks like Arthur Fils is very much determined to keep rising, as he met one of the Big 3 recently.
