The 21-year-old Canadian sensation, Felix-Auger Aliassime, has the backing of an extremely experienced coaching duo in Frederic Fontang and Toni Nadal. Fontang, the former professional tennis player from France also coached Jeremy Chardy for 12 years. Under Fontang’s guidance, Chardy achieved Wimbledon boys’ singles title and an ATP 250 title at Stuttgart. Toni Nadal is the uncle and former coach of Spanish giant, Rafael Nadal, he coached Rafa from 1990 to 2017.

The Canadian is enjoying the coaching partnership of Fontang and Nadal. He will play at BNP Paribas in Indian Wells scheduled from today. Aliassime needs to go deep in the tournament to stay in the race for the ATP finals.

Aliassime’s coach backs Toni Nadal

Frederic Fontang and Toni Nadal are currently in a professional relationship as the pair is coaching Felix-Auger Aliassime. The duo has often been spotted practicing with Aliassime. Recently, Frederic Fontang backed Toni Nadal.

The Frenchman said, “It is clear that Toni is a considerable asset. His experience, his aura, and his principles all help Felix to have more self-confidence. Toni has nothing to prove, his results speak for him therefore indeed, on certain ideas, his messages pass better, he is legitimate”.

Fontang considers Toni a very important asset for the team. He appreciated the expertise Toni Nadal has provided to Aliassime. Although Aliassime fell short in the semi-finals against eventual champion, Daniil Medvedev, he was really impressive at US Open 2021.

The Canadian, Felix-Auger Aliassime had an absolutely amazing run at the Flushing Meadows. The 21-years old reached his maiden Grand Slam semi-finals at US Open 2021. On his path to the semis, he triumphed over some fine players like Roberto Bautista Agut, Frances Tiafoe, and Carlos Alcaraz

In the semi-finals, the Canadian faced the World No.2, Daniil Medvedev. Despite showing off some great proficiency, Aliassime couldn’t get past the Russian. However, the World No. 11 seems to have a bright future ahead of him and a great team behind him.
