The tennis community can’t keep quiet as the blockbuster US Open showdown between Novak Djokovic and Daniil Medvedev is almost underway. During their competitive tennis journeys, the ATP stars have marked a number of on-court triumphs while establishing themselves in the top 3 spots of the ATP rankings.

Being popular figures in the tennis realm, Djokovic and Medvedev both have bagged a number of sponsorship deals with renowned brands. Although the ATP sensations might have this common thread between them, there is a significant difference in their off-court earnings. Let’s find out here.

Just like their ATP rankings, Djokovic and Medvedev are among the top five highest-paid tennis players in the world, according to Forbes. The Russian tennis star, who is there at 4th spot on the list, has whopping off-court earnings of around $13 million owing to his sponsorship deals.

Popular brands like Lacoste and RawQ have previously joined hands with the former world No. 1 player, making him their ambassador.

Djokovic, on the other hand, is currently the highest-paid tennis player with a colossal 0ff-court earnings of around $25 million and a net worth of $240 million. The most noteworthy brand in his endorsement portfolio is Lacoste, from which he generates a staggering $9.5 million in revenue.

Surprisingly, Djokovic’s sole Lacoste sponsorship makes up 73% of his upcoming US Open final opponent, Medvedev’s total sponsorship earnings.

In addition to this off-court endeavor, the Serb also has an upper hand in an on-court record against the 27-year-old.

Djokovic vs. Medvedev on the court

The ATP players have squared off against each other 14 times on the tour, with the ‘Djoker’ enjoying a 9-5 overall head-to-head record. Even in their Grand Slam meetings, the Serbian tennis legend is leading 2-1, having won 2 Australian Open matches against Medvedev. But in their 2021 US Open championship matchup, it was the Russian who comfortably overcame Djokovic in three sets, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4.

The overall head-to-head record between Djokovic and Medvedev can now change they will once again lock horns in the title match of the Grand Slam event in New York. In his 15th meeting against the 2021 US Open champion, the Serb will be competing for his record-equalling 24th major title.
