The World No. 1 who once ruled the courts, finding himself with legendary players like Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, now seems to be struggling for every single win. And fans can’t take it anymore.

After a disappointing defeat at his opening match of the Australian Open 2024, Andy Murray’s name is again in discussions, but on the negative side. As the tennis star lost a recent match against Benoit Paire, fans thrashed the Brit over it online.

The era of the big fours seems to be facing a tough challenge. After Rafael Nadal called off from his participation in Melbourne and Novak Djokovic faced a disappointing defeat against young Jannik Sinner, Andy Murray also appears to be on the low. The 3-time grand slam champion who once dominated even the toughest competitors with his amazing skillset, is now on the verge of bidding farewell to the tennis world.

As the trail of comments began over his loss to Benoit Paire at the Open Sud de France, a fan hinted towards Murray’s retirement with this diminished form, “It’s definitely time for Murray to retire if he’s losing to Paire.”

“hang it up flatscreen,” wrote another fan, asking Murray to stop playing for good.

 

As the series of negative comments continued, a fan mentioned his recent defeat against Paire as a new mark of downfall in Andy Murray’s career, “Murray is done and dusted. Losing to Paire of all people is a new low.”

Another fan, directly suggesting Murray look forward to his retirement, commented, “Him Papa. He should retire.”

A fan, asking the 36-year-old tennis star to quit quickly, said, “Murray should just finish ffs.”

With these and several other comments falling on a similar note, fans made it clear that they are not ready to handle any more disappointments from Murray’s game. As everyone hinted at his retirement, Murray recently expressed his thoughts about calling it off.

After Andy Murray faced a disappointing exit from the Australian Open 2024, he used a press conference to announce the approaching date of his retirement. As the tennis star could himself feel the lost potential, he said, “There is a definite possibility that’ll be the last time I play here.”
