‘Grandpa Can Never Forgive Him..’- Novak Djokovic’s 8-Year-Old Son Snubbing Tennis for a Popular Sport

Despite being a tennis player all his life, Novak Djokovic is a die-hard basketball fan. Not only him but his whole family supports basketball. In an interview for ‘Novak Djokovic- Untold Stories’– his parents revealed their love for this sport while mentioning their favorite team as well.

However, it seems that Novak’s father disagrees with his grandson. The Serb’s parents, in the interview, revealed how their grandson prefers to support different teams and create a rivalry-like atmosphere at home. But what is the main reason for this rivalry?

Djokovic’s son supports a rival basketball team

In a recent revelation, Novak Djokovic’s parents claimed that there has been a tense atmosphere as their son has started supporting a rival basketball team. While Novak’s whole family is a die-hard of Crvena Zvezda, their grandson, Stefan Djokovic supports Partizan Belgrade.

Responding to this, Novak’s mother Dijana revealed that his grandfather is angry because he decided to support the rival team. “Stefan loves tennis above all, but now he has come to love Partizan, I don’t know how. Grandpa can never forgive him for that. He loves Partizan. He started cheering for Partizan because he likes the atmosphere. Stefan is a very nice boy, really,” said Dijana.

Thus, the revelation by Novak’s parents acknowledges the fact that there are sometimes tense situations when the players or Crvena and Partizan play against each other. Also, Stefan’s decision of choosing another team is solely a choice of his own and has nothing to do with their long family line of supporting their native club.

However, Dijana also revealed that his son Novak is also a Partizan supporter sometimes. But when it comes to the rivalry, he is a boyhood Crvena fan.

Novak Djokoivc is also a Partizan Belgrade fan

In the same interview, Dijana shed light on the fact that Novak is sometimes a Partizan fan as well. She said that Serbia is a country of Basketball and it is interesting to see her family getting involved in the sport. “It’s interesting to watch him (Stefan), he loves basketball. Serbia is a country of basketball,” said Dijana.

She revealed that Partizan is the national team and they support the team when they play any other team like Real Madrid or Barcelona. “What does Novak say: ‘I support Partizan whenever they are not playing against Zvezda.’ It’s our (Serbian) team after all. And of course, he will support Partizan when they play against some other teams, Real or Barcelona or whoever.” said Dijana in the interview.

Thus, this recent revelation sheds light on the in-house rivalry going on between the family members. They also revealed that tennis is however, the predominant sport that they love but when it comes to basketball, they certainly have different mentalities.
