The 26-year-old put on an impressive display at the Australian Open. He partnered with his compatriot and close friend, Thanasi Kokkinakis, to lift the Australian Open men’s doubles trophy. In an all-Australian final, the duo defeated Matthew Ebden and Max Purcell in straight sets 7-5, 6-4.

During an interview, the interviewer asked Kyrgios how his win back home helped change his landscape. He said, “Nothing really, I took the first flight out of Melbourne and went to go hoop in Sydney. It’s obviously good vibes having you know, Grand Slam on my belt. I take it day by day. I’m super happy with that achievement, but you know, put that behind me. I just want some good energy every day and hopefully, I get better.”

Indeed, it has been a wonderful start for Kyrgios this season. Apart from the success at the Grand Slam Down Under, he has had impressive runs in the subsequent tournaments. In his next tournament after the Australian Open, Kyrgios reached the quarterfinals at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells.
