Last year at the ATP Paris Masters, the three-time Grand Slam champion, Stan Wawrinka, after his loss against the teenage tennis sensation vented out by calling him a baby. The tension between the two remains to this day as in their latest on-court meeting at Indian Wells, Rune made a sarcastic comment after his loss to the Swiss star.
Holger Rune’s mother defends her son’s behavior

The 19-year-old tennis player’s agent, who is also his mother, is quite active on social media and frequently shows her support towards her son. Recently, Aneka Rune took to her Instagram account to share a story by a journalist, in which the journalist cleared up how Rune’s on-court actions were not a reflection of his character.
A part of the statement read, “It is disgusting to see all this faux outrage and relentless bullying of a 19-year-old child. All these people judging and scrutinizing him must be living such a perfect flawless life. Maybe google Roger Federer and his antics when he was Holger’s age. He is a good kid, extremely kind and polite. His biggest flaw is he is too honest and too real. I love that about him. I couldn’t be more proud of him! And his ability to listen and learn.”

The Danish tennis player’s mother previously also criticized his opponent over the same comment.
Holger Rune’s mother criticized Wawrinka
Last year, the first of such contentious incidents took place at the ATP Paris Masters 2022. The 19-year-old tennis player’s mother criticized the three-time Grand Slam champion for his bullying. She wasn’t happy about Wawrinka calling his son a ‘baby’ after losing against him.
